As mentioned in a previous post, animal-inspired fashions (i.e. animal print and fur) are in this season. Women’s skiwear designers, like Nils, are on board with this trend, adding faux fur and real fur trim to their parkas. In the past few years multiple celebrities, including Sonny Bono and Natasha Richardson, have lost their lives due to skiing accidents. These casualities could have been prevented had the skiers been wearing helmets. Once considered an uncool ski and boarding accessory, the helmet has become a necessity and is worn in all competition and by professional winter athletes. In fact, this past winter, the state of California began considering making wearing a helmet when on the slopes the law for minors.

Helmets have come a long way in the looks department too. Once bulky and just plain boring, helmets have become small, fitted, and more stream-lined, along with more colorful and fun. New Arrivals: Burton Boards

We recently got in a bunch of 2011 Burton boards for the whole family- all sizes, all levels of ability. Yes, the whole family – including your smallest rugrats. For the rugrat crowd we’ve got the Burton “After School Special” snowboard package – a great, price-conscious package for the beginner boarder.

The After School Special has everything you need to start your kid off.

If you have a kid that already loves boarding and needs to burn some energy, grab a Chopper board for your older son. Boys will love the teeth-baring creatures on the topside. Girls will love the Chicklet board, which is the girlie version on the Chopper – complete with a bright pink and purple design.
